The Print Room aspires to build awareness and enhance appreciation for the visual arts, particularly in classical fine arts photography. We passionately believe that only with a foundation in classical photography techniques, can the photographer begin to approach photography as a fine art. Our specific emphasis and pride is to offer students an opportunity to learn to handle a traditional manual film camera, to process film and to print photographs in the classical way.
The Print Room offers private classes in fine arts photography. In-studio indoor and on the field lessons for outdoor on-location film photography techniques will be followed through with theory and techniques for processing film, printing on paper, mounting and framing the final print. Theory and history classes will be taught by our own or guest instructors and will cover the range of genres from photojournalism, landscape, nature, fashion, portrait, architectural to abstract works. Digital photography and software will be used as a secondary working tool to support publication ventures and commercial commissions.
The Print Room will also be holding special talks and workshops by guest instructors from other countries, mentorship programs with senior photographers and instructors, master’s workshop in particular areas or other events for fellow photographers and students to come together as a community of like-minded enthusiasts. Our instructors are also available to teach photography courses, conduct educational summer workshops or provide consultancy services to other fine arts schools and universities.
Periodically, as part of the educational objectives of the company, The Print Room will organize exhibitions of the work of its students, instructors and fellow photographers and other artist colleagues. The company shall also produce related publications such as catalogues of exhibitions, feature books on photography and various other visual fine arts.
